Happy New Year!

Once in a Blue Moon... and this is what it looked like just a tad past midnight in Sebring FL.

We stood on the hill, behind my folks house, and watched the skies for remnants of fireworks being displayed in various places across the horizon. After the show was over, we looked up to see a ring around the moon, close and another one quite a distance out. By the time a camera was secured, the photo op was past. But the moon still was photo worthy. It'll be awhile (19 years in fact) before we see this again on New Years Eve. so....here is pictorial documentation of the 2010 New Year's Eve Blue Moon. FWIW.

A neighbor stopped today to tell us about a historic event that'll never happen again...

Today's date is 01 02 2010 read it forward and backward and it'll be the same!!! :-) There's your trivia for the day.

And last night, I thought I'd take Gilbert for a walk one last time before turning in. He had other ideas however...that did not include being outside. Apparently his bedtime was long past and the fresh night air was not at all appealing to him. We noticed another scene, camera worthy to our Michigan eyes. The moon behind the leaves of a palm tree in the front of the house. It was also an opportunity to discover we need to learn a few more things about our cameras. This is the best I could do...I know, I need a little practice to get settings right to clear it up and get it focused in better. But, if you use your imagination you can guess what we were seeing. It was pretty awesome.

Today we spent time in shirt sleeves outside doing a little sorting and cleaning for Mom and Dad. And just before we put away our tools, we covered tomatoes and the papaya plant to protect them from the predicted frost/ freeze expected over the next few nights. So, tomorrow the tough Michiganders might just have to wave the white flag and wear a coat to church. Or take the car instead of the golf cart.

NO, Little Gilbert is not a victim of any horrible accident or illness. It seems his chosen preference for a place to crash after a hearty early morning walk, or for an afternoon siesta, or
after a busy day of keeping the two leggeds up and moving, is on Mom's soft new Snuggie blanket, with her heart pillow close at hand. He really likes that Snuggie...a lot! We may have to find one for his very own. See, he's even smiling...

He's been a big hit down here with all the folks. The big 4 ft cranes aren't so impressed with him though. We hung clothes on the line behind the house and I took Gilbert out without the leash, unaware that the 3 cranes were hunting for food in the neighbors back yard not 50 feet away. Gilbert was after them in a flash, and the noisy birds were airborn without hesitation. Then Gilbert heard my call and came back to sit at my feet. He apparently did some rethinking about the wisdom of chasing after creatures that have the potential to peck out eyes and do bodily harm. He ignored the cranes completely when we walked past them on the way home from the Manor today. Eyes straight forward and he picked up the pace considerably too. Smart puppy. I didn't mind walking faster. There is just something not right about being able to look at a bird eyeball to eyeball practically. They are BIG!!!
Thursday we went to a local Flea Market, and hit the jackpot! Blue Jeans for 25 cents a pair!!! Now , before you think we have changed our mode of dress to blue jeans for every occasion....
I did buy 11 pair, of various sizes and colors. Because we have found ways to repurpose blue jeans...making cute purses, reusable shopping bags, and a host of other fun things to sew. If I go home with a life time supply of Blue Jeans our grand daughters will quickly nominate me to the Grandmothers Hall of Fame for sure!!! LOL And when word gets to them that I'm on a Blue Jean mission they'll be even more anxious for our return. What fun.
That's all the news for this report.
Hope you are all getting 2010 off to a Blessed start.

Psa 90:12 So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.

There are snuggies for dogs. I've seen them. Your going to have to get G-dog his very own.
