The top left picture was taken before the siding had been put on. The porch has been reconstructed, made the full length of the back of the house and 12 foot deep. We are already enjoying that nice expanse.
Here is a shot from the same side of the house as the picture captioned, In the beginning...
things have changed a lot since that first picture was taken, haven't they? The part of the house on this side is new where the smaller window is. That was part of the old porch that is being made into an addition onto the existing bathroom. (the second window marks the existing bathroom) The plan is to put in a whirlpool tub, to do those all important Epsom Salt soaks that seem to keep me on top of the muscle aching and fatigue that comes with Lyme disease. I think I can be well as long as I remember to work in those important minerals...and magnesium (the Epsom Salts) is just one of them. So, we are trying to fit in a means to accomplish that purpose. I'm looking forward to it...a LOT!!!
The burdensome Cottage Garden is now all gone. All that's left is Harry Lauder's Walking Stick...that short bush in the middle there. The garden was nice, and served it's purpose for a good number of years. But, other things seem to need my energy now, more than trying to keep up with a jungle of a flower garden. I'm satisfied to know that flower bed has now travelled to several counties in the state and will be enjoyed by many more gardeners next summer.
Recent activities include, more canning, apple pie filling and squash this time. And still more to do. French Onion Soup is on the slate, as soon as I figure out exactly how to make it. Carrots and beets still need harvesting. Grandchildren were here and stayed for 10 days. A very good time .... mostly :-).... We did get tired out. They helped plant a LOT of garlic for our crop next summer. And as mentioned earlier, the deer hunters returned with a 6 point and an 8 point and those are off getting processed. When the meat comes back we intend to can some of that. So, that about brings you all up to date
